A Ni-e-ce Evening

This Diwali I ensured that I met my 8 ½ month old niece (brother’s daughter) , Adithi and am left with beautiful memories of her. The last time I met her was at my Bhabhi’s house at her naming ceremony .We had named her Lakshmi then since we were still pondering over the name. I was one of the first few people to see her soon after she was born and can still recall it as truly one of the happiest moments of my life . I spent the remaining day with my bro chatting about her and that probably was the last emotional conversation I had with him. We do converse now but most of the time through messages!

This Diwali, Adithi was clad in a red and yellow ochre ghagra perfectly suiting her fair complexion. She was with her father at her mischievous best playing, giggling and singing her own ragas. I was extremely thrilled by her presence as I hadn’t met her for quite sometime. She had wonderful smile on her face enough to make me forget the strenuous bus ride from Ulsoor to Nagarbhavi.I have always enjoyed watching the eyes of kids. I notice their dark pupils with deep interest and feel happy about their honesty and genuineness. I then sat with her to play with all the soft toys and she seemed to enjoy them irrespective of the noise of the firecrackers outside. My brother along with his friends started bursting the crackers and we all were amazed by the fact that Adithi wouldn’t even blink or get scared of any of those crackers and their noise. She thoroughly enjoyed them with all the enthusiasm and inquisitiveness. Later she had her dinner and was awake till 12.15 in the night playing with her toys and us. It was a wonderful evening and I could still feel her tender skin on my hands when I woke up @6.30 the next day to get back to my hectic schedule. There are some moments you just can’t forget by the sheer delight they stir in you when you remember them.Diwali evening and my Niece’s birth are one of those special moments which I will cherish for a long time.

I have thus started my expedition of having my own blog page and penning down my thoughts. I thank my friends for inspiring me to do so as I find it to be one of the easiest ways to express oneself.
